Food prices increased 2% in the year to January 2010, following increases of 1% for both the years to December and November 2009.
Four of the food subgroups increased in the year to January 2010. The increases came from higher prices for grocery food (up 2%), non-alcoholic beverages (up 6%), and meat, poultry, and fish (up 3%).
