Fruit and vegetable prices decrease

The fruit and vegetables subgroup decreased 1%t. This is the sixth consecutive annual fall in the fruit and vegetables price index.
The most significant upward contributions came from higher prices for soft drinks (up 9%), ready-to-eat food (up 3%), and tomatoes (up 38%).
The most significant decreases came from lower prices for cheese (down 11%).
Although food prices are now 2% higher than a year ago, they are 12% higher than two years ago.
